Orange delivers RFID solution to Columbia health centers

Centros Especializados de San Vicente Fundacion, Columbia has chosen Orange Business Services to integrate and deliver RFID-based technology and communications services at its new branch launched in October.

The new branch comprises 12 specialized health centers, integrated by Orange Business Services with a real-time hospital asset and resource tracking system, based on RFID technology. 

Canadian banks enable payment cards for govt. site access

SecureKey Technologies Inc. announced that it has been awarded a contract by the Government of Canada to provide a Credential Broker Service that will enable Canadians to use their bank authentication credentials to obtain access to online government services.

To ensure privacy protection, users of the service will authenticate through their bank but neither their login credentials nor the identity of their bank will be shared with the government. Similarly, no information about the government service being accessed by the user will be shared with the user’s bank.

SAFE-BioPharma, a Ft. Lee, N.J.-based non-profit consortium of biopharmaceutical companies, is seeking nominations for its first Digital Identity Awards program. Nominees should recognize innovative uses of the global digital identity standard or institutions and individuals contributing to a broader understanding of its benefits.

Nominations can be in any of the following categories: innovative implementation of the SAFE-BioPharma standard in biopharmaceuticals and health care; innovative product compliance; an individual who has contributed to the standard’s use and advancement; regulatory advances; the use of the standard globally or regionally; and journalistic reporting in advancing understanding and use of the standard. 

NagraID announces ID card

NagraID will unveil the e-Service ID Card solution based on Password Authenticated Connection Establishment (PACE) at Cartes & Identification 2011 in Paris.

The PACE+ e-Service ID Display Card is aimed for the verification of documents such as national IDs, resident permits, driver licenses, health cards, weapon IDs, social security eligibility and more. The solution is available for implementation providing a solution for citizen ID, corporate ID and consumer ID applications. 

Awarepoint, Meditech integrates to track medical patients

Awarepoint announced that it will integrate its real-time location (RTLS) system for health care environments with Meditech’s electronic health record (EHR). The effort aims to improve throughput and patient safety in hospital emergency departments (ED).

The 210-bed Monongahela Valley Hospital, Pa., is one of the first hospitals in the country to implement the EHR-RLTS combination. The partnership combines Awarepoint’s awareEDTracker system with the EHR management module, known as Meditech EDM.

BIO-key International has announced that it will be presenting its fingerprint-based solution designed for use by blood centers at the American Association of Blood Banks Annual Meeting & CTTXPO 2011 Oct. 22 - 25th in San Diego, Calif.

Among their products the company is showcasing is TruDonor ID software, which is designed to meet FDA positive identification requirements, prevent and detect duplicate donors and streamline the blood collection process.
