DAILY releases RFID wristbands for people tracking

DAILY RFID released its RFID wristband series offered in either a disposable or reusable version - making them ideal for both health care industries and recreational markets.

Made of waterproof silicon, the smart wristbands operate in either low-frequency or high-frequency ranges and can be read and written to more than 100,000 times, allowing easy integration into various applications.


Read/write distances vary based on body type, ranging from a maximum of 5 m to a minimum of 1 cm.

The wristbands are durable, waterproof and ideal for access control in the fields of amusement parks, correctional facilities, swimming pools and hospitals, etc. It can provide automated data capture that boost efficiency and accuracy while reducing cost and dangerous errors. [end] 

SimplexGrinnell and GuardRFID have executed a distribution agreement that formally provides SimplexGrinnell access to GuardRFID’s products and solutions.

This new relationship will allow SimplexGrinnell to expand offerings to its health care customers. It will enable them to offer features such as GuardRFID’s TotGaurd system, and the wander prevention and asset locating systems to more healthcare facilities.

ClearCount Medical Solutions, a Pittsburgh-based provider of patient safety products for the operating room, has closed its $5 million series B financing round.

The company intends to use the funds to further research and development of its RFID-based solutions for operating rooms. ClearCount has already developed the first FDA-cleared sponge counting and detection solution.

About 37 million higher-frequency RFID and RTLS-enabled asset tracking and asset management tags are expected to ship this year but that’s expected to grow to nearly 150 million by 2014. That equates to a compound annual growth rate from 2010 to 2014 of more than 40%, according to a new study released by ABI Research. Revenues are expected to reach $845 million in four years.
